Young Joe’s decision to sacrifice himself seemed irrational to me. We know there’s a future in which that child is a mass murderer–why risk keeping him alive? He’s a walking time bomb. Even if his mother could somehow control him, something else entirely apart from her may one day have set him off. It’d have been braver and more compelling had he executed him.
