First, let’s get the chronology down straight. Usually, we post the latest episode of the Critic Speak Podcast on Monday night. But because James and I were unable to be on Skype at the same time Monday, we were forced to record a day later, on Tuesday. So, despite the fact that this episode is going up woefully late, on Wednesday night, everything was said on Tuesday. This is the reason why we are talking about the Cannes Film Festival (now underway) in the future tense. Let’s hope neither of us is busy during our usual recording hour ever again to avoid such mixups!
Getting down to brass tacks: On this week’s Critic Speak Podcast, we talk about the Cannes lineup and make uninformed predictions about what film will win the Palme d’Or, we review Baz Luhrmann’s lavish “The Great Gatsby” adaptation, and we revisit the new Blu-Ray release “Cloud Atlas,” directed by the Wachowskis and Tom Tykwer.
