Privacy Policy

Effective and last updated: October 5, 2026

Critic Speak is a personal film criticism website. This Privacy Policy explains what information may be processed when you visit criticspeak.com, use its comments, or contact the site.

Information processed when you visit

The site is hosted by Hostinger and runs on WordPress. Like most hosting platforms, these services may process technical information needed to deliver and protect the site, such as an IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, timestamps, referrer information, and security or error logs. This information is used for hosting, reliability, abuse prevention, troubleshooting, and site security.

If you contact Critic Speak, the site may receive the information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, and message. That information is used to respond to you and maintain necessary correspondence.

Google Analytics

Critic Speak uses Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate traffic and how readers use the site. Depending on your region and privacy choice, Google Analytics may process information such as visited pages, approximate location derived from IP address, browser and device details, referrer information, and interaction events. Critic Speak disables advertising storage, ad-user-data signals, and ad-personalization signals in its Google consent settings.

For visitors in the United States, aggregate analytics is enabled by default unless the browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal or the visitor turns analytics off. For visitors outside the United States, and when the site cannot determine a visitor’s region, analytics storage remains off unless the visitor allows it. You can change your selection at any time through the Privacy choices button on the site. Google provides more information in its Privacy Policy and Analytics privacy documentation.

Comments and Disqus

Critic Speak uses Disqus to provide comments. Disqus does not load until you select Load comments. If you do, your browser connects to Disqus, and Disqus may process identifiers, cookie information, IP address, browser or device information, and activity associated with the comment service. Disqus operates under its own Privacy Policy. A first-party preference cookie remembers that you chose to load Disqus for approximately six months. You can revoke that choice through the site’s Privacy choices control.

Cookies and local preferences

The site may use strictly necessary cookies for WordPress administration, security, and login functions. It also stores a first-party preference cookie for your analytics choice for up to one year and, if you load Disqus, a comments preference for approximately six months. Google Analytics cookies are used only when analytics storage is permitted. You can remove cookies through your browser settings, although doing so may reset your choices.

Embedded content and external links

Articles may contain links to, or embedded material from, third-party websites. When third-party content is loaded, that provider may receive technical information about your visit and may use cookies or similar technologies under its own terms and privacy policy. Critic Speak does not control independent third-party websites.

How information is used and shared

Information is used to operate, secure, measure, maintain, and improve the site; provide comments when requested; communicate with readers; and comply with legal obligations. Critic Speak does not sell personal information for money. Information may be processed by service providers such as Hostinger, WordPress-related services, Google Analytics, and Disqus for the purposes described above, or disclosed when reasonably necessary to protect the site, users, or legal rights or to comply with law.

Retention

Hosting and security logs are retained according to the relevant provider’s operational schedules. Contact messages are kept only as long as reasonably needed to respond or maintain necessary records. Analytics and comments data are retained according to the settings and policies of Google and Disqus. Critic Speak may retain records longer when reasonably necessary for security, dispute resolution, or legal obligations.

Your choices and privacy rights

You can change analytics and Disqus choices through the site’s Privacy choices control, use browser controls to delete cookies, enable Global Privacy Control, or contact Critic Speak about access, correction, deletion, or other privacy requests that may apply where you live. Critic Speak is currently operated as a personal site without meaningful revenue and does not represent that it meets the California Consumer Privacy Act thresholds for a covered business. Regardless, the site provides the controls described here and honors Global Privacy Control for Google Analytics.

Data may be processed in the United States or other countries where the service providers operate. Privacy rights and safeguards can differ between countries. Requests will be evaluated under applicable law and the site’s ability to verify and fulfill them.

Children

Critic Speak is a general-audience film criticism site and is not directed to children under 13. Please do not submit personal information through the site if you are under 13.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the site or its services change. The effective date above will be revised when material changes are published.
