New trailer: “Frankenweenie”

I keep thinking that this is all an elaborate prank — that Disney has allowed Tim Burton to make a black-and-white animated riff on Frankenstein, with children as a part of the target audience, designed to play in IMAX and 3-D. It sounds like financial suicide to me, but that just makes the movie itself seem more interesting. Embedded above is the full trailer for “Frankenweenie,” which is much more detailed than the teaser we saw back in March. The film is a feature-length version of a short that Burton made all the way back in 1984, very early in his career. The voice-cast includes Martin Landau, Martin Short, Winona Ryder, and Christopher Lee.

“Frankenweenie” arrives in theaters just in time for Halloween, on October 5.
