New trailer: Michel Gondry’s The We and the I

I am of the opinion that Michel Gondry’s film adaptation of The Green Hornet last year was colossally underrated; too few understood that it was a parody, not a straightforward superhero film. But nonetheless, it’s good to see the French director return to his roots–low-budget, culture-centric filmmaking–with The We and the I, the trailer for which is embedded above. The film, which premieres this week at Cannes, is a documentary-like piece shot on public transportation in the Bronx with mostly non-actors. Sign this blogger up.
