A new trailer for “The Bourne Legacy,” the newest entry in the spy franchise, has hit the web. Although Matt Damon declined to reprise his role as Jason Bourne, the character’s shadow obviously looms large in this universe, which now sees Jeremy Renner as an invulnerable spy turning on his crooked CIA bosses. Rachel Weisz (wife of competing IP lead Daniel Craig), Edward Norton (perhaps wishing he hadn’t developed a reputation as being hard to work with), Joan Allen, and David Strathairn co-star. Tony Gilroy, who wrote the previous films, both writes and directs here.
“The Bourne Legacy” opens in the U.S. on August 3.
