Aaron Sorkin confirmed for Steve Jobs project

Aaron Sorkin (left) and Steve Jobs (right)In 2011, he wrote an Oscar-winning portrait of Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Now, it’s Steve Jobs’ turn to get the Aaron Sorkin treatment.

Sony announced today that Sorkin will adapt Walter Isaacson’s best-selling biography of Jobs, which was published shortly after the Apple CEO’s death last year. The project is being produced by Mark Gordon, Scott Rudin and Guymon Casady.

Sony did not announce when the project would go into production, nor did they speculate on a director or lead actor. Ashton Kutcher is currently playing Jobs in a rival production, which is being produced independently for $8.5 million. The Sorkin project will undoubtedly cost a lot more, but given his impeccable track record, that shouldn’t make it seem more “Hollywood.”

Based on looks and acting ability, Michael Stuhlbarg (Boardwalk Empire, A Serious Man) is an obvious pick to play Jobs in the Sorkin version. But something tells us that Sony could go for a left-field choice. Who would you like to see to see don jeans and a black turtleneck?
