Weekend Box Office: Think Like a Man #1, The Lucky One #2, The Hunger Games #3

As Friday’s box office indicated it would be, this weekend was all about relationship movies — the comedy Think Like a Man coming in at a big #1 and the drama The Lucky One a solid #2. Interestingly, the former held up over Saturday and its projected Sunday much better than the latter (at least by studio

Avengers actor Hiddleston defends superhero films as art in Guardian editorial

Tom Hiddleston, star of THOR and THE AVENGERS.Writing in his native England’s The Guardian, actor Tom Hiddleston, who plays Loki in Thor and the upcoming The Avengers, published a passionate editorial defense of superhero blockbusters as legitimate works of filmmaking, not simply fun and games. That Hiddleston believes superhero pictures are still marginalized in this way surprises me; after all, Christopher Nolan’s Batman epics and the first Iron Man, for instance, were heralded by critics and audiences alike for being great films. Ruby Sparks trailer: Another dose of Sunshine

What would you do if your soul mate, exactly as you imagined them, sprang to life from your imagination? That’s one of the questions posed by Ruby Sparks, the upcoming film from Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, the directors of Little Miss Sunshine.

The film stars Paul Dano as Calvin, a novelist who writes his dream girl (on a typewriter, which means he might be a poseur) and is justifiably shocked when she materializes in his house.
